Your Rights in California
Last updated: August 2026
California law gives you strong protections when you have your vehicle repaired. Donlyson Auto Concepts is a registered Automotive Repair Dealer (ARD) with the California Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR), and we follow these rules in every transaction.
Your right to a written estimate
Before any work begins, you have the right to receive a written estimate that lists the parts and labor required. No repair may be performed and no charge made until you authorize the work in writing. When you submit a consultation request, we provide a written estimate before any work starts — there is no obligation and no charge for the initial appraisal.
Your right to authorize any charge increase
If the actual cost will exceed the written estimate, we must contact you, explain the reason, and get your written or oral authorization before performing the additional work. You are never obligated to pay for work you did not authorize.
Your right to inspect replaced parts
You have the right to inspect, and request the return of, any parts that were replaced (except parts that must be returned to the manufacturer under warranty or exchange). Just ask our team before we begin and we will set them aside for you.
Your right to choose your repair shop
California law prohibits insurers from requiring you to use a particular repair shop. You have the right to choose Donlyson Auto Concepts regardless of your insurer's recommendation or "preferred shop" network. If an insurer steers you elsewhere, you can insist on your choice and file a complaint with the Department of Insurance.
