Custom Paint & Refinishing in Los Angeles

A truly great paint job is judged in the reflections — the depth of the lacquer, the absence of orange peel, the way a fluorescent light reads across a panel at three feet. Donlyson Auto Concepts has built its reputation on finishes that meet that standard on every build, from daily drivers to SEMA-stage show cars.

Our refinishing process begins with bare-metal preparation: stripping, rust removal, and corrosion proofing before a single drop of color touches the panel. Color is computer-matched and custom-formulated in-house, then applied in our climate-controlled downdraft booth for a consistent, contaminant-free finish.

The final depth comes from multi-stage wet-sanding and mechanical polishing, followed by an optional ceramic seal. The result is a liquid-looking surface that holds up to Southern California sun and keeps its gloss for years.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a custom paint job take?+

A full exterior respray typically takes three to five weeks depending on prep work, color complexity, and curing time. Single-panel blends can be completed in under a week. We'll give you a firm timeline in your written estimate.

Can you match an existing or custom color?+

Yes. We computer-match against your paint code, and for custom or discontinued colors we formulate from a physical sample or a specified standard. Effect pigments — metallics, pearls, candies — are matched for flake size and orientation.

Will my paint have orange peel?+

Some texture is inherent in sprayed finishes, but our wet-sand and polish process removes the vast majority of it, leaving a surface that reads as flat and deep under most lighting. Show-grade builds receive additional blocking for a mirror finish.

Do you offer a warranty on paint?+

Yes. Our refinishing carries a lifetime warranty against peeling, fading, and workmanship defects for as long as you own the vehicle. See our warranty page for full terms.

Can you paint engine bays and interiors?+

Yes. Full color changes include jambs, under-hood, and interior masking. We'll scope the level of disassembly in your estimate so you know exactly what's included.
